PMH in Schools

Thanks for taking the time to understand how your school could benefit from Parenting Mental Health

PMH provides a free, confidential, resource rich digital community for parents who are feeling isolated, frightened, guilty, and out of control because of their child’s mental health.

It is a safe private space for parents who are looking for a sense of belonging, a place to vent, and engage with others going through similar situations.

Born out of our founder’s personal need for a support network for when her daughter was suicidal in 2015, Parenting Mental Health is a safe, supportive community and charity that helps parents of young people with mental health issues. We’d love to support parents you work with and have brought together some resources for you to share.

If you have any questions or would like to contact us to discuss how we can help your school, please email us

We look forward to supporting you to support parents.

Creative Connections

Creative Connections is an 8 week, free program of creative sessions run in association with Creative Counsellors. Each session is run by a qualified counsellor and designed to give you some committed time for yourself each week and help you express and process your emotions.

Talks/Workshops

We run free and paid talks and workshops for parents about how to parent a young person with a mental health issue. These can be delivered online or in person. Please register your interest by clicking the link below to email us.

Never Let Go is the book PMH Founder Suzanne Alderson wanted when she was supporting her daughter through her mental illness. It is an honest account of her experiences along with practical support about dealing with professionals, school and friends and family as well as Suzanne’s ‘Partnering’ method that she used to support her daughter to a resilient recovery. Our group is exclusively for parents suffering, but we have a Facebook page with over 6,000 likes that showcases a lot of the support we provide.

PMH Guides

We have created 10 downloadable PDF guides that address commonly asked questions in the community, ranging from ‘I think my child is depressed’ to ‘My Child can’t go to school – what do I do?’.  We actively encourage these to be shared, uploaded and hosted on your own school website.
