THANK YOU

YOUR SUPPORT IS INVALUABLE

Our private Facebook community is a unique space where approximately 40,000 parents from all over the world share the experience of parenting a child with a mental health issue. With the option to post anonymously or as yourself, the group is a safe non-judgemental space, carefully and thoughtfully moderated to ensure you get support when you need it, how you need it.

Reach out for advice, to vent, share fears and frustrations, celebrate the wins, give and receive support any time of day or night and make new connections. You don't have to go through this alone.

A BIT ABOUT PMH

PMH was founded by Suzanne Alderson who witnessed first-hand the total lack of support available for parents of children with poor mental health when her 14-year-old daughter, Issy, became depressed and suicidal after being bullied. In 2016 Suzanne set up a Facebook Community Group with a simple aim to reach out and connect parents who felt isolated, judged and ill-equipped to deal with the situation they faced. She wanted to offer both understanding and practical help which immediately resonated with parents with numbers quickly growing; within the first year 300 people had joined, a year later 3,000.

Facebook selected Suzanne from over 10,000 applicants as one of 100 community leaders from around the world to join their Community Leadership Programme (and later the Accelerator Programme which also provided some start-up funding for PMH). A period of rapid growth ensued, which now sees over 40,000 parents from all over the world gaining membership to our private Facebook Community and being recognised as one of the 20 Most Impactful Facebook Communities in EMEA in 2020. With a desire to reach even more parents, through new channels and a deeper range of services and support packages, Suzanne applied for charitable status and PMH became an autonomous, self-financing charity with serious impact ambitions.
